January 12, 2011 — Burbank, CA — Multi-platinum rock band Green Day will release a brand-new live album, entitled Awesome As Fuck, on March 22nd, 2011, on Reprise Records. The set, which includes a CD plus bonus DVD, features explosive performances captured during the band’s 2009-2010 World Tour in support of their Grammy® Award-winning album 21st Century Breakdown. Green Day recorded every show on the 21st Century Breakdown tour. When it concluded, the band members, singer-guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt, and drummer Tre Cool, sifted through the audio to deliver the best performances from their shows around the world.  An iTunes Exclusive edition of the audio portion will feature two bonus tracks. The footage on the bonus DVD was shot at the band’s show in Tokyo, Japan. The package includes Green Day’s biggest hits and fan favorites, including “21 Guns,” “American Idiot,” “When I Come Around,” and “Good Riddance.” See below for full track-listing.

Released by Reprise Records on May 15th, 2009, 21st Century Breakdown debuted at No. 1 on theBillboard Top 200 chart, won a 2009 Grammy Award for “Best Rock Album,” and has sold more than 3.5 million copies worldwide. January 1, 2011 Leave a comment

During a recent interview, Jimmy Urine – frontman of Mindless Self Indulgence – discusses the band’s latest comic, his side project with guitarist Steve, Righ? and something MSI fans should look forward to soon.

When asked “Do you guys have any plans for a new MSI album soon?”, Jimmy answered, “There will be some MSI surprises coming very soon, but that’s all I’ll say on that subject right now.”

It is as yet unknown what exactly is to be expected from the band, but it’s definitely exciting to potentially be hearing from them again musically. Read the full interview with Jimmy on the LA Music Blog here.

Dream Theater won’t take Mike Portnoy back.

December 21, 2010 Leave a comment

Earler in the week it was announced that Mike Portnoy and Avenged Sevenfold will be parting ways. With the announcement came a considerable surge of fans commenting Mike Portnoy on Facebook or Twitter, both thanking him for his time with A7X and begging him to return to Dream Theater. It seems that is entirely out of the question, but not for lack of trying. He replied to a post on his forum stating:

Just for the record, this is indeed true… Fairly recently, I reached out to the guys to try and make amends and offered to reconcile for the sake of having peace back in our lives (plus I know how much it meant to alot of the fans.) I figured it was still possible to try and save us because they hadn’t made any announcements yet or begun any public activity with another drummer but sadly, they declined my offer (well, actually their lawyer did…they didn’t even tell me themselves.)

Sorry gang, I honestly gave it my all… So now the fans on my twitter and facebook can please stop asking me to go back to DT. I tried, and the door is now shut, the ball is now in their court, not mine.

PS – I’m not crying or looking for mercy by posting this. I am merely trying to set the record straight as that is always the most important thing about my relationship with you guys. no BS, no spins, nothing to hide and for better or for worse, I tell it like it is.

I’ve also recently seen some people accuse my online activity of “looking for attention or media coverage” or “looking for sympathy”, but it’s honestly none of the above. I merely value having an open and active communication with my fans, always have, always will. It is the cornerstone of everything I’ve done since day #1 with DT.

This was posted here FOR YOU GUYS to know about here on MY message board on MY website. If it ends up on Blabbermouth or some other website that chooses to sensationalize it, that is THEIR doing. I did not send it out or create a “press release”. I am merely responding on a thread on my own Forum.

Anyways, onward and upward.

As stated in his post, this was a reply to a post on his forum and not a press release. However, it does explain the situation fully. It looks like Dream Theater and Mike Portnoy are not likely to reconcile, regardless of how many fans would like to see that.
